'Never be afraid'

THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN ARTIST AND NATURE 

Isaac is a contemporary alchemist who has been researching the growth of stalagmites, one of nature's greatest wonders. During his many experiments he discovered how the growth process works and how he can use it for making sculptures and objects. He calls it the collaboration between artist and nature. After studying Architecture in Belgium and Norway, Isaac wanted to get his hands dirty and added Product Design in Rotterdam. And through that, he was able to make and produce himself, from the first sketch to the prototype and ultimately the final product.

FROM MINERAL TO CRYSTAL

Unfortunately, Isaac did not succeed to speed up the growth process of stalactites. But due to the many experiments with minerals, he managed to grow natural crystals and influence the shape of the crystals. Next to that, he also researches painting techniques, pigments and dyes to change the color of crystals. By making a supersaturated solution of minerals and oxides in a bath with water and then playing with the temperature, he succeeded to transform the mineral into crystal. 

CRAFTSMANSHIP IS DEDICATION AND TIME

Craftsmanship to Isaac, is dedication and time. You need time to learn the trade and to master it. And once you master it, it also takes time to really create. It can't be done quickly or by a machine. You can see the love for the profession back into the final product. And that makes the imperfections and the maker's fingerprint so unique and special. Isaac tells a story with everything he makes. The work itself has no judgment, but his ultimate goal is to let people think about certain themes such as time, waste, the future of the human body.
